More than 40 Ugandans who had lost limbs walked away from Mulago National Referral Hospital on Sunday with new prosthetic legs, as the Ruparelia Foundation turned the first anniversary of Rajiv Ruparelia’s death into an act of giving. Police in the North Kyoga region have arrested a senior investigations officer from Kole District following accusations that he tried to sexually assault a 19-year-old student. The accused, Dickens Louis Ebong, works as the Officer in Charge of CID in Kole. Authorities say he tricked the student, who attends Akalo Comprehensive Secondary School, into coming to his home at the police barracks by promising to give her a book. A female police officer attached to Namukosi Police Station in Mityana District has been stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Gulu City, police confirmed on Thursday. PC Harriet Akera, badge number 82983, was killed on Wednesday afternoon, April 23, in Library Cell, Bardege, Layibi Division. Police have named her boyfriend, Denis Brian Apire, as the suspect. Immaculate Wereh, the Fisheries Officer for Bugiri District, has died after a road crash on Monday afternoon along the Tororo–Jinja Highway, about 10 miles from Tororo at Papoli Trading Centre. Wereh was a passenger in taxi registration UBR 018F, which was travelling from Tororo to Kampala when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
