27 People Killed, Several Injured as Huge Fire Breaks Out in Nightclub Bar

At least 27 people have died and more than 60 others were injured after a devastating fire ripped through an entertainment venue in Bangkok, Thailand, prompting authorities to launch a major investigation into the cause of the tragedy.

The fire broke out on Monday, July 13, engulfing the crowded venue and triggering panic as patrons scrambled to escape.

Preliminary investigations suggest the blaze may have been caused by an electrical fault, although officials say the exact cause has not yet been established.

Emergency responders found many of the victims inside the venue’s restrooms, where they are believed to have sought shelter as thick smoke spread rapidly through the building. Authorities believe many were unable to escape after exits became congested with panicked crowds.

Dozens of survivors were rescued from the scene and taken to hospitals across Bangkok, where they continue to receive treatment for burns, smoke inhalation and other injuries.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the scene of the disaster as forensic experts began the difficult process of identifying the victims and reconstructing the events that led to the deadly fire.

Authorities have launched a comprehensive inspection of the entertainment venue to determine whether it complied with fire safety regulations. Investigators are examining whether the building had adequate emergency exits, functioning fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems and fire alarms, and whether any exits were locked or obstructed when the fire broke out.

Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said investigations remain ongoing and pledged to provide further updates as more information becomes available.

The tragedy has reignited concerns about fire safety standards at entertainment venues across Thailand, with officials expected to review compliance measures to prevent similar disasters in the future.

Authorities are continuing to verify the identities of those who lost their lives while families await official confirmation of their loved ones’ fate.
