Equity Bank has closed its Oasis branch in Kampala after flooding in the area made it unsafe to operate, the bank announced on Saturday.
The closure, which took effect on March 7, 2026, has left customers unable to access services at the branch until further notice. The bank said it will reopen once conditions in the area improve.
“Oasis branch is temporarily closed due to flooding in the area. Our team is working to resolve the situation. We will reopen as soon as it is safe to conduct business,” the bank said in a notice to customers. Those with urgent needs have been directed to call the bank’s toll-free line, 0800232700.
The closure comes as heavy rains continue to batter Kampala, flooding roads and disrupting businesses in several parts of the city, particularly in low-lying areas near the central business district.
Videos shared on social media this week showed vehicles stuck in flooded streets around the Nakivubo channel and Mini Price area. One widely circulated clip showed a woman in Islamic dress nearly swept away by fast-moving floodwater.
City authorities have long attributed Kampala’s recurring flooding to blocked drainage channels, rapid and poorly planned urban development, and inadequate waste management.
Equity Bank did not indicate when the Oasis branch is expected to reopen.
