Ugandan Catholic Priest Fr. Kalyesubula Dies in Motor Crash

    By OnionJune 18, 2026

The Catholic Church in Uganda is mourning the death of Reverend Father Bonny Kalyesubula, who died in a road accident while travelling along a major highway.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash have not yet been fully established, and authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident. Police are expected to provide more details once inquiries are completed.

News of Fr. Kalyesubula’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief among fellow clergy, parishioners, and members of the wider Catholic community, many of whom have described him as a dedicated priest whose ministry positively impacted countless lives.

Church leaders paid tribute to the late priest, remembering him as a committed servant of God who devoted his life to pastoral work and spiritual guidance. Messages of condolence have continued to pour in from across the country as believers mourn his sudden passing.

The priest’s body has been taken for a postmortem examination as investigations into the crash continue. Church authorities are expected to announce funeral and burial arrangements in the coming days.

Fr. Kalyesubula’s death comes amid growing concern over road safety in Uganda, where road crashes continue to claim lives despite ongoing efforts to improve safety on the country’s highways.

The Catholic Church has called on the faithful to keep the late priest’s family, friends, and the wider church community in their prayers during this difficult period as they come to terms with the loss.
