Pan-African Pyramid to Honour Late Rajiv Ruparelia for Outstanding Humanitarian Legacy

    By Aijuka PeterMay 12, 2026

The Pan-African Pyramid (PAP) will posthumously honour the late Ugandan businessman and philanthropist Rajiv Ruparelia with a Humanitarian Award at its 9th Global Awards and 12th Anniversary Dinner. The event is set for August 29, 2026, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

The Pan-African Pyramid Awards Committee announced the decision in an official statement released Monday night through the Office of the Speaker. The committee said the vote was unanimous, citing Rajiv Ruparelia’s outstanding humanitarian work across Africa and beyond.

The late Rajiv is remembered for his wide-ranging support in education, health, sports development, youth empowerment, charity work and community transformation programs that touched the lives of many people across the continent.

“Rajiv impacted countless lives and inspired a generation of young African entrepreneurs and philanthropists,” the statement read.

His father, Ruparelia Group Chairman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, will attend the ceremony together with his wife Jyotsna Ruparelia and other members of the family to receive the award on Rajiv’s behalf.

The event is expected to draw a high-profile crowd of African leaders, diplomats, business executives, cultural figures, media personalities and Pan-African stakeholders from across the continent and the diaspora. Among the confirmed guests is Zimbabwean Pan-Africanist Bishop Joshua Maponga Marara III.

Beyond the awards, organisers said they are exploring a future humanitarian partnership with the Ruparelia Foundation centred on the annual “X-Mas With Refugees” initiative. Held every December 20 in partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister’s Department of Refugees, the program has for years provided relief aid and support to vulnerable refugee communities across Uganda.

The committee believes bringing this initiative into the broader humanitarian vision tied to Rajiv’s legacy could significantly widen support for displaced and vulnerable communities across Africa.

The Pan-African Pyramid describes itself as one of Africa’s growing platforms dedicated to recognising visionary leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and humanitarians who champion continental unity and social impact.

The Speke Resort Munyonyo dinner is expected to serve as both a tribute to Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy and a call to action for African-driven philanthropy.
