Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has revealed sweeping plans to redevelop Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, setting the stage for one of Kampala’s most significant hospitality transformations in recent years.
Sudhir shared digital designs showing what the upgraded facility will look like, and the contrast with today’s low-rise setup is striking. The proposed complex features tall glass-fronted towers, wide balconies and landscaped open spaces that blend city sophistication with resort-style comfort.
The vision is to turn Kabira into a fully self-contained destination where guests and residents can live, shop, dine and unwind all in one place. When complete, the site is expected to include around 360 serviced apartments, a shopping mall, several restaurants, upgraded sports facilities, a bowling alley and a modern conference centre. Anchoring it all will be an 18-storey five-star hotel tower.
The project is being driven by the Ruparelia Group through Meera Investments, with construction in the hands of Vcon Construction Uganda Limited. Works are already underway, and key structures are on track for completion this year.
Kabira Country Club currently holds a four-star rating from the Uganda Tourism Board and has long been a favourite spot for swimming, tennis and events. The redevelopment keeps those features intact while layering in high-end residential and commercial spaces designed to attract both local and international clientele.
The project is expected to reshape Bukoto’s skyline and lift the bar for serviced accommodation and conference facilities across Kampala. It also adds another landmark to Dr Ruparelia’s growing portfolio, which already includes Kingdom Kampala and Speke Resort Munyonyo, as he continues to deepen his footprint in tourism and real estate.
