The Indian Association Uganda has congratulated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on his inauguration for a seventh term, pledging continued investment, philanthropy and support for Uganda’s development under his leadership.
In a statement released on Tuesday as Museveni was sworn in for the 2026 to 2031 term, the association, led by Board of Trustees Chairman Dharmesh Patel, praised the President and the ruling National Resistance Movement for what it described as leadership that has fostered stability, investment growth and economic opportunity in Uganda.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and the entire diaspora, we congratulate H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM on the occasion of swearing in as the President of the Republic of Uganda,” the statement read.
The association said Museveni’s leadership had created a good environment for business and investment, allowing members of the Indian community to contribute to Uganda’s economy through commerce, job creation and charitable work.
“Under your able leadership, Indian Association shall continue to help and foster investment in the country to provide employment opportunities,” the statement said.
The message also pointed to the community’s ongoing involvement in humanitarian and medical outreach across Uganda, with a particular focus on vulnerable communities and children requiring specialised healthcare.
“We are sure with your guidance and support our philanthropic activities shall further help uplift the less fortunate of Uganda, who need love and care, with medical assistance in particular infants with congenital heart disease, blood donation and medical camps,” the association added.

Among those featured alongside Chairman Dharmesh Patel was businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, one of Uganda’s most prominent investors and philanthropists. Through the Ruparelia Group, he has built investments across multiple sectors over the years, employing thousands of Ugandans and supporting a range of social causes.
The Indian community remains one of Uganda’s most influential foreign investor groups, with interests spanning manufacturing, banking, hospitality, real estate, trade, education and health.
The congratulatory message comes as Museveni officially began another five-year term after taking the oath of office at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds before regional leaders, diplomats and guests from across Africa and beyond. In his inauguration speech, Museveni called for a “Kisanja of No More Sleep,” urging Ugandans to focus on wealth creation, industrialisation, value addition and economic transformation.
Uganda and India have long maintained close bilateral relations, with India remaining among Uganda’s top trading and investment partners.
