The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has arrested Parliament’s Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Chris Obore, and Head of Finance, Patrick Kunobwa, as investigations into alleged abuse of office and misuse of public funds intensify.
IGG Aisha Naluzze is leading a widening probe into current and former officials of Parliament following the exit of former Speaker Anita Among in May 2026.
Also arrested on Thursday morning are Daniel Adilo, the Director of Human Resources, and Methods Murebe, the Chief Executive of the Parliamentary Sacco. The officials are being questioned over allegations related to abuse of office and the handling of public funds.
According to investigators, the ongoing probe is examining claims that funds were allegedly withdrawn through personal accounts and later used in ways that are yet to be fully accounted for.
Over the past several weeks, multiple parliamentary officials have been summoned to the Inspectorate of Government offices to respond to inquiries and provide explanations on financial transactions under review.
Former Speaker Anita Among has not been arrested. However, security agencies have previously conducted searches at her residences in Kampala, Kigo, and Bukedea, as well as at her former office in Parliament, as part of the broader investigation.
The Inspectorate of Government has not yet publicly disclosed the specific charges, if any, that Obore, Kunobwa, and the other officials may face.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say further updates will be provided as the process continues.
