Three people were brought to the Otuke Magistrate’s Court today for allegedly stealing over 1.5 billion Ugandan shillings meant for people in Northern Uganda who lost livestock during past conflicts. A final-year student at Makerere University, Elson Tumwine, has been sentenced to two months in prison. Another student from Seeta High School has died, marking the second student death at the school in just six months. Kevin Nsamba, a 21-year-old Senior Six student, drowned in a swimming pool at the Mbalala Campus in Mukono District around 5:30 PM on Sunday. Police in the Albertine Region said 19 people died and 13 were hurt in a bad accident last night at 11:00 PM on the Hoima-Buliisa road. The accident involved a Fuso truck (UBB 639W) carrying market vendors from Wanseko-Buliisa Market. The truck couldn’t climb a steep hill in Kigorobya Town Council, rolled backward, and flipped over, causing the crash. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
