Another student found dead at Seeta High School

    By Aijuka PeterAugust 6, 2025

Another student from Seeta High School has died, marking the second student death at the school in just six months. Kevin Nsamba, a 21-year-old Senior Six student, drowned in a swimming pool at the Mbalala Campus in Mukono District around 5:30 PM on Sunday. The circumstances of the drowning are still under investigation.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested the swimming trainer who was near the pool when the incident occurred. After playing in a football match with other students, Kevin and some peers went to the school’s swimming pool, where trainees were already swimming under the trainer’s supervision.

Kevin reportedly jumped into the deep end of the pool. Later that evening, students noticed Kevin was missing while they were watching a film. They alerted the dormitory captain, who informed the chief warden. Despite efforts to locate him, the search continued into the next day with the school principal’s involvement. Kevin’s body was eventually found floating in the swimming pool.

The school administration reported the incident to the police, who began an investigation. Statements have been collected from witnesses, and Kevin’s body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The swimming trainer remains in custody to assist with the ongoing investigation. Police are awaiting post-mortem results and additional evidence to determine the cause of death.

Efforts to contact the school administration for comment were unsuccessful, as their phones were either switched off or unanswered. Earlier this year, in February, another tragedy struck Seeta High School when Elishama Ssesaazi, a 16-year-old Senior Three student at the main campus, reportedly took his own life in the school dormitory. That case is also still under investigation.
