The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has published the shortlist of candidates selected for the next stage of its 2026 nationwide recruitment exercise after completing the online application process.
Thousands of applicants from districts across the country have been shortlisted for positions in both the regular forces and the professional specialized wing.
Those whose names appear on the shortlist have been invited to attend the physical recruitment exercise, which will be conducted in their respective districts between July 20 and August 1, 2026.
According to the UPDF, the recruitment drive is intended to enlist both ordinary recruits and professionals with specialized skills in key sectors. The force is seeking qualified candidates in areas such as education, healthcare, aviation, engineering, law, sports, music, and other technical disciplines.
The recruitment forms part of the UPDF’s efforts to expand and strengthen its workforce by bringing in personnel with diverse expertise to support military operations, administration, medical services, legal affairs, and other specialized functions.
Candidates are encouraged to confirm whether they have been shortlisted and prepare all the required documents before reporting for the recruitment exercise on the dates assigned to their respective districts.
