Tycoon Prosper Tuhaise to Lead Massive “Walk For Museveni” March in Mbarara Ahead of Historic Swearing-In

    By OnionMay 11, 2026

Excitement is building across Mbarara District after National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson Prosper Tuhaise Kururagire officially launched preparations for a massive “Walk For Museveni” celebration scheduled for tomorrow as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is sworn in for his historic seventh term in office.

The highly anticipated event is expected to attract huge crowds of NRM supporters, bazzukulu, youth groups, and residents from across western Uganda who will march through different parts of Mbarara District in solidarity with the President during the national swearing-in ceremony at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Speaking to our reporter in Mbarara, Prosper said he organized the celebrations after realizing that many Museveni supporters from western Uganda would not be able to travel to Kampala for the national function. “As the country witnesses President Museveni’s swearing-in tomorrow, we also wanted our people here in Mbarara to be part of this historic moment. Not everybody can make it to Kololo, so we decided to organize a special celebration for them right here at home,” Prosper said.

According to organizers, the celebrations will feature a major solidarity walk where supporters will chant pro-Museveni slogans, sing revolutionary songs, and offer prayers for the President as he begins another term leading Uganda. The event will later climax with a mega celebration at the district headquarters in Bwizibwera, where supporters including the famous bazzukulu, NRM faithful, and even opposition supporters willing to join the celebrations will be treated to food, music, and an exciting disko.

Sources close to the organizing committee say the multi-million-shilling event is one of the biggest grassroots mobilization activities organized in western Uganda to celebrate Museveni’s inauguration and is expected to significantly boost NRM visibility and morale in the region.

Political observers have continued to praise Prosper Tuhaise for his unmatched mobilization energy and loyalty to the ruling party, describing him as one of President Museveni’s strongest grassroots coordinators in western Uganda.

Prosper’s dedication to the NRM struggle did not start today. President Museveni has previously praised Prosper’s family, especially his father, as among the committed historical NRM cadres who fought tirelessly during the liberation struggle of the late 1980s to bring the Movement government to power. That spirit of commitment appears to have greatly influenced Prosper, who has spent years mobilizing support for the NRM and President Museveni, often using his personal resources to strengthen party structures and coordinate activities across Mbarara District.

During the recent elections, Prosper led aggressive grassroots mobilization campaigns that saw President Museveni register one of the strongest performances in the region, with many supporters crediting the victory to Prosper’s tireless efforts as district NRM chairperson.

As anticipation for tomorrow’s celebrations continues to rise, supporters across Mbarara say the “Walk For Museveni” will serve as a powerful demonstration of loyalty, unity, and confidence in President Museveni’s continued leadership and vision for Uganda.
