Sudhir Ruparelia Meets Heritage Times Africa Delegation Ahead of East African Trade Summit

Businessman Sudhir Ruparelia has met a delegation from Heritage Times Africa as Uganda intensifies preparations to host the inaugural East African Trade and Digital Summit later this year.

The delegation, led by Heritage Times Africa Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Moses Siloko Siasia, is holding a series of engagements with both public and private sector leaders to discuss regional trade, investment and economic integration.

During the meeting, Ruparelia, the chairman of the Ruparelia Group, shared insights into Uganda’s investment landscape and the role of the private sector in driving economic growth across the East African Community (EAC).

Discussions reportedly focused on opportunities arising from Uganda’s oil and gas industry, regional infrastructure development, digital transformation and expanding cross-border investment within East Africa.

The meeting also explored ways the private sector can support regional integration by increasing investment, strengthening capital flows and promoting intra-African trade.

Ruparelia, whose business interests span real estate, hospitality, education and other sectors, highlighted Uganda’s investment potential and the importance of creating an enabling environment for both local and foreign investors.

The Heritage Times delegation also held a separate engagement with businessman Hamis Kiggundu as part of its wider consultations with key players in Uganda’s private sector.

Earlier, the delegation met First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs Rebecca Kadaga, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to hosting a successful East African Trade and Digital Summit.

The summit is expected to bring together policymakers, investors, business leaders and technology experts to explore opportunities for enhancing regional trade, digital innovation and economic cooperation across the East African Community.
