Kampala Capital City Authority has honoured the Ruparelia Foundation with an Appreciation Award for its contribution to the Kampala City Festival 2025, with KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki personally presenting the recognition.
The foundation, the philanthropic arm of businessman Sudhir Ruparelia’s Ruparelia Group, was cited for supporting the festival’s organisation, branding, and execution, helping make it a safe and high-impact urban event.
The Kampala City Festival 2025, one of Uganda’s largest public gatherings, drew tens of thousands of people to the capital. The KCCA-organised event featured street parades, music performances, food exhibitions, and community activities designed to promote tourism, urban identity, and economic activity.
KCCA officials said partnerships with private sector players like the Ruparelia Foundation are central to Kampala’s goal of becoming a modern, organised, and livable city. They added that such collaborations will be strengthened to keep Kampala competitive regionally and globally.
Beyond the festival, the Ruparelia Foundation runs health camps, education support programmes, and urban community initiatives. The Ruparelia Group itself has shaped much of Kampala’s skyline through investments in real estate, hospitality, and education.
The award reflects a broader push by city authorities to deepen private sector involvement in urban governance, particularly for large-scale public events that drive tourism and boost local economies.
