Veteran Ugandan dancehall artist David Sifaayo, popularly known as Master Parrot, has reportedly died following a tragic road accident along the Kampala Northern Bypass.
According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary police reports, the accident happened on Monday evening in the Masanafu area. Reports indicate that the singer was attempting to cross the busy highway when he was knocked by a speeding motorcycle.
He is said to have sustained critical injuries and died at the scene before medical assistance could arrive. His body was later taken to Mulago City Mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Master Parrot rose to fame in the early 2000s and became one of the most recognizable voices in Uganda’s dancehall and Afro-pop scene. He gained widespread popularity through his hit song “Muliro,” which dominated radio stations, entertainment venues, and public events across the country.
The singer later released several other songs that strengthened his place in Uganda’s music industry. His energetic performances, distinctive vocals, and unique style helped shape the growth of modern local pop music during a period many fans consider a golden era for Ugandan entertainment.
News of his reported death has sparked an outpouring of grief across social media, with fellow musicians, fans, and industry figures paying tribute to his contribution to the country’s music scene.
By the time of publication, family members had not yet announced official burial arrangements. More details are expected to be released in the coming days as relatives and close associates prepare for his final sendoff.
