A Uganda People’s Defence Forces soldier in Kisoro District has died in what police say appears to be suicide. The soldier, identified as 32-year-old Private Samuel Kwesiga, was attached to the Nyanamo Detach under the 35th Battalion. A 23-year-old man died on Friday, August 15, 2025, during the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) recruitment exercise in Apac District. The deceased, identified as Solomon Dono, was a resident of Miciri B Cell in Aberidwogo Ward, Ibuje Town Council. He collapsed shortly after finishing a 4-kilometer run at Apac Technical School.
