Sudhir Ruparelia Takes Role as Main Sponsor for Pan-African Pyramid Global Awards 2026

    By Aijuka PeterMarch 10, 2026

Ugandan business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has come on board as the main sponsor of the 9th Pan-African Pyramid Global Awards and Convention 2026, ending more than a decade of financial uncertainty for one of Uganda’s most prominent Pan-African intellectual gatherings.

The Ruparelia Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Ruparelia Group, will fully fund this year’s edition of the awards, which will be hosted at Speke Resort Munyonyo on August 29, 2026. Dr. Sudhir has also agreed to attend as chief guest, where he will interact with intellectuals, entrepreneurs and Pan-African thought leaders from across the globe.

Andrew Irumba Katusabe, the Founding Speaker and Chairman of the Pan-African Pyramid, broke the news to members, describing the development as a turning point for an organisation that has relied largely on volunteerism and ideological commitment since its founding eleven years ago.

“After 11 years of our hard existence and 8 years of PAP Global Awards, I take the honour to announce that Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, under his charity hand, the Ruparelia Foundation, has sponsored this year’s PAP Global Awards,” Irumba said.

Beyond covering the venue, the Ruparelia Foundation has also sponsored a four-course gala dinner that will serve as the grand finale of the evening, accompanied by reggae music and cultural performances.

The PAP Global Awards recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Pan-African ideals, African unity, intellectual development and socio-economic transformation. Recipients typically come from categories including revolutionary leaders, freedom fighters, scholars, women entrepreneurs, artists and lifetime achievers who have dedicated themselves to the cause of African solidarity.

This year’s convention is expected to draw delegates from Jamaica, Canada, the United States, Burkina Faso, Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya, among other countries. Organisers say the gathering will serve not only as an awards ceremony but also as a high-level forum to deliberate on Africa’s economic transformation and continental integration.

Those close to the organisation say Dr. Sudhir’s involvement is not entirely new. According to Irumba, the businessman has quietly offered logistical support and encouragement to the Pan-African Pyramid over the years, making this year’s formal sponsorship a continuation of a relationship that has existed behind the scenes for some time.

For organisers, the partnership marks the beginning of a new chapter. With the financial backing of one of Uganda’s most influential business figures and a world-class venue to match, the 2026 edition of the PAP Global Awards is shaping up to be the most ambitious in the event’s history.
