A heartbreaking story out of KwaZulu-Natal has gone viral across South Africa, leaving thousands shocked and emotional after a 31-year-old woman revealed she has been aging at an alarming and unexplained rate.
Snenhlanhla Khoza, from Mtubatuba in KwaZulu-Natal, shared her emotional story and the daily challenges she faces due to a condition believed to be Werner Syndrome — a rare genetic disorder associated with accelerated aging in adults, often causing people to appear much older than their actual age.
Khoza’s story first gained public attention after she appealed for help through Thuleleni TV, saying her condition has been deteriorating rapidly over the past few years. She claims it began in 2022 when she was 27 years old and involved in a relationship with a foreign national. After the relationship ended, she started experiencing an unexplained skin condition that caused her to age dramatically.
According to her family, the woman — who has one child — was in a relationship with a man named Kgomotso from Limpopo before they separated in 2022.
She claims doctors still do not fully understand what is happening to her body, with reports suggesting that her skin, organs, and even her heart may be affected by the unexplained condition. Snenhlahla has also suggested she may have been bewitched, although there is no scientific proof supporting those claims.
Her story gained widespread attention after being shared across various social media platforms. Commentator Tumi Sole revealed that Snenhlahla’s family had sought help from both medical doctors and traditional healers, but had found no solution. A representative from an organisation called Thuleleni travelled to Khulwa village in Mtubatuba on 20 May 2026 after being contacted by Snenhlahla’s sister. He met with Snenhlahla and her mother, who looked significantly younger in stark contrast to the 31-year-old, who appeared decades older than her actual age.
A Durban-based Zimbabwean sangoma and pastor, 30-year-old Tinotenda Mutinhiri, has since come forward saying he was moved by her condition and is willing to assist, stressing that he would only get involved with the full permission of Khoza and her family.
Images shared online have sparked widespread discussion, with many South Africans expressing sympathy and calling for medical intervention. The case has also reignited public debate about access to specialist healthcare in rural KwaZulu-Natal.
As her story continues to spread, Snenhlahla and her family are appealing to both medical professionals and the public for help and answers
