A 104-year-old woman was moved to tears after businessman Sudhir Ruparelia handed her a wheelchair at Bukedea Teaching Hospital, where the Ruparelia Foundation is hosting a free eye camp serving thousands in eastern Uganda.

The woman, identified as Amoding Esther, appeared deeply emotional as she expressed her gratitude in front of patients, medical staff, and community members gathered at the hospital. Overcome with joy, she offered a heartfelt prayer for Ruparelia, telling him, “May you live longer,” a moment that resonated with many who witnessed the interaction.
The gesture took place during the ongoing RR Eye Camp, an outreach initiative organized by the Ruparelia Foundation in memory of the late Rajiv Ruparelia. The program focuses on providing free eye care services and medical assistance to underserved communities, attracting large numbers of residents from across the region.

Esther was among several beneficiaries who received support at the event. Her new wheelchair is expected to ease her movement and improve her daily independence, according to those present at the camp.
The Bukedea outreach forms part of a broader effort by the Ruparelia Foundation to expand access to healthcare while honoring Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy of community service. Organizers say the initiative has already reached thousands of people with free eye examinations, treatment, and related care since it began.
