A Local Council One court in Muyina-Busine Village, Kisinga Sub-county in Kasese District, has ordered a 50-year-old man to pay a fine of three goats after he reportedly admitted to engaging in an inappropriate relationship with his daughter-in-law during a village hearing.
The LC I Chairperson of Muyina-Busine Village, Mr. Zalimon Kananga, identified the man as Mr. Zalimon Mulengu, a resident of Bughema Village in the same sub-county.
According to Mr. Kananga, the accused initially denied the allegations when the matter was brought before the council. However, a recorded audio presented during the hearing allegedly captured him speaking to his daughter-in-law, Ms. Roset Musoki, asking her to leave her marital home so they could spend more time together. The recording influenced the council’s decision to impose the fine.
The ruling was delivered after a community hearing where residents raised concerns over the alleged conduct, prompting intervention by the local leadership structure.
The husband to the woman, Mr. Rabison Kahuhira Kidaluku, said he had initially dismissed rumours circulating within the community about a possible relationship between his wife and father, but later became suspicious after noticing changes in his wife’s behaviour toward him.
Local authorities have not indicated whether further action will be taken beyond the community ruling, but residents say the decision has sparked wide discussion in the village.
