Pastor Irene Manjeri, the founder and lead preacher of Bethel Healing Ministries, collapsed while delivering a sermon during a Sunday church service, leaving worshippers concerned about her condition.
The 56-year-old pastor was preaching when she appeared to struggle before pausing her message and telling the congregation that she needed to rest.
In a video circulating online, Manjeri is seen speaking with difficulty before telling the worshippers, “Let me rest. Let me go home and sleep. Bye. Bye.”
Church ushers quickly moved to assist her as she stepped away from the pulpit. However, she appeared to lose her balance and collapsed while being escorted off the stage.
Members of the congregation were urged to remain calm, with one person heard saying, “Do not worry. Do not panic,” as others rushed to help her.
She was later lifted and carried away from the platform.
By Sunday evening, Bethel Healing Ministries had not issued an official statement regarding her health condition, and the cause of the incident remained unclear.
Manjeri is among Uganda’s prominent Pentecostal pastors and has led Bethel Healing Ministries for years. The church runs its main congregation in Kitende, Wakiso District, with another branch located at the former Pride Theatre along Namirembe Road in Kampala.
Through her ministry, Manjeri has built a large following with teachings focused on healing, deliverance, and faith. She also oversees charitable initiatives through Bethel Healing Charity Home, which supports vulnerable children.
The pastor has previously shared that she was raised in a humble background in eastern Uganda before becoming an evangelical preacher. Further details about her condition are expected from the church or her family.
