The government’s new salary structure for the 2026/2027 financial year has revealed the public positions with the highest monthly pay, with top constitutional offices, senior judicial leaders and presidential aviation staff dominating the list.
The salary adjustments are contained in the Circular Standing Instruction (CSI) Salary Structure for the 2026/2027 financial year, which takes effect in July.
An analysis of the different salary schedules, including specified officers, Judiciary positions and Aviation Presidential Crew roles, shows that some government officials will earn more than Shs25 million per month in basic salary.
Below are the top 10 highest-paying government positions based on the listed monthly salaries:
1. Inspector General of Government (IGG)
The Inspector General of Government ranks as the highest-paid position on the list.
According to Schedule 9A for specified officers, the IGG earns a monthly salary of Shs37 million, translating into Shs444 million annually.
2. Auditor General
The Auditor General is the second highest-paid government official.
The position attracts a monthly salary of Shs36.1 million, with annual earnings of Shs433.2 million.
3. Executive Director, Presidential Aviation
The head of presidential aviation is among the highest earners under the Aviation Presidential Crew schedule.
The position receives Shs32.16 million per month, amounting to about Shs385.9 million annually.
4. Deputy Inspector General of Government
The Deputy IGG earns Shs32 million every month under the specified officers category.
The annual salary for the position stands at Shs384 million.
5. Chief Pilot, Presidential Aviation
The Chief Pilot under the Presidential Crew schedule earns Shs30.25 million monthly.
This amounts to an annual salary of about Shs363.09 million.
6. Chief Engineer, Presidential Aviation
The Chief Engineer in the presidential aviation team earns Shs29.37 million per month.
The annual salary allocation for the position is Shs352.5 million.
7. Captain, Presidential Aviation
Captains serving under the Presidential Crew schedule receive a monthly salary of Shs28.52 million.
Their annual pay amounts to approximately Shs342.25 million.
8. Pilot, Presidential Aviation
Pilots under the same schedule earn Shs27.69 million every month.
The annual salary for the position is about Shs332.28 million.
9. Chief Justice
The head of Uganda’s Judiciary is among the highest-paid public officers.
The Chief Justice earns Shs26.5 million monthly, equivalent to Shs318 million annually.
10. Deputy Chief Justice
The Deputy Chief Justice completes the list with a monthly salary of Shs25 million.
The position earns Shs300 million annually.
