Ugandan Pastor Separates From Wife After Finding Her in Lodge With Another Man

    By OnionJune 29, 2026

A pastor in Kabale District has ended his marriage after allegedly finding his wife in a lodge room with a man he suspected of having an affair with her, in an incident that has drawn attention in the area.

Pastor George Nafayo of Reformers Church, a resident of Butoore Village in Nyakasharara Parish, Kaharo Sub-county, says he discovered his wife, 37-year-old Evidence Orishaba, inside a room at Vision Jointex Bar and Lodge along the Kabale–Ntungamo Highway in Kakatunda, Bukinda, Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District, on the evening of Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Nafayo claims the situation began earlier in the day when his wife left home around midday after asking for money to buy clothes for their five children at Nyabirerema Market in Bukinda. He alleges that after the shopping trip, she was later seen in the company of James Mujuni, a cattle trader from Maziba Sub-county in Kabale District.

He says he had previously received reports suggesting a close relationship between the two and had been monitoring the situation. According to him, the pair were spotted together at the market before moving to the lodge, which is about two kilometres away.

Nafayo says he alerted officers at Bukinda Police Station and mobilised local residents as witnesses before proceeding to the lodge. On arrival, he claims his wife was found inside one of the rooms while Mujuni fled the scene.

He further alleges that the lodge room had been paid for using money he had given his wife to buy clothes for their children, adding that the incident worsened existing financial and family tensions. Nafayo also claims his family businesses had suffered losses, which he attributes to what he describes as poor management by his wife.

He says he previously sold land worth Shs19.5 million in an effort to rescue one of the struggling businesses. He also alleges that this was not the first time his wife had been accused of infidelity. To support his claims, Nafayo presented recordings he says were extracted from his wife’s phone, allegedly showing conversations coordinating a meeting with Mujuni.

Orishaba was taken to Bukinda Police Station, where she spent the night before being transferred to Kaharo Police Station the following day.

Over the weekend, police held a closed-door mediation meeting at Kaharo Sub-county headquarters involving Nafayo, Orishaba and members of both families in an attempt to resolve the matter.

Following the meeting, Nafayo said he had officially ended the marriage and returned his wife to her family. He said discovering her in a lodge room left him with no option but to separate from her, despite the couple having five children.

He added that he involved police and family members because he feared the situation could escalate further.

Orishaba, in her defence, said her actions were a response to what she described as mistreatment by her husband, though she did not go into detail.

Julius Tisasira, the LC1 Chairperson of Butoore Village, said he had previously intervened in the couple’s domestic disputes on three separate occasions, all linked to allegations raised by Nafayo.

Ronald Aturinda, Orishaba’s brother, said his sister’s behaviour was unacceptable and confirmed that the family had also previously raised concerns about her conduct.
