A Ugandan man has demanded a refund of nearly Shs20 million from his former girlfriend after their relationship came to an end.
Speaking in an interview with Onion, the man said he spent millions of shillings on his then-girlfriend during the course of their relationship and now wants to recover part of the money following their separation.
According to him, the most expensive item he purchased for his former partner was a vehicle valued at approximately Shs15 million. He also claimed to have bought her a Google Pixel smartphone worth about Shs3 million.
The man said the two items account for the bulk of the money he is seeking to recover, although he noted that he incurred additional expenses during the relationship.
He told Onion that he believes he should be compensated for the purchases following the breakup, arguing that he made significant financial commitments while the relationship was ongoing.
It remains unclear whether he has formally communicated his demands to his former girlfriend or intends to pursue legal action to recover the money.
