Police have launched a manhunt for former Obsessions music group manager Ronnie Mulindwa following a raid on a suspected online prostitution and adult content streaming operation in Kampala.
The operation, conducted by the Directorate of Crime Intelligence, led to the arrest of 27 young women believed to have been involved in the scheme. Investigators said the women were found inside a building where they were allegedly being filmed and streamed to paying audiences overseas.
According to police, many of the women had been recruited from various districts, including Mukono, Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka, Lyantonde, and parts of the Busoga sub-region.
Authorities allege that Mulindwa operated the enterprise alongside a man identified as Martin Male and a woman known only as Zeisha. The trio is currently being sought by investigators.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala confirmed that efforts to track down the suspects are ongoing. She also revealed that a security guard attached to the premises was arrested during the operation.
Among those taken into custody was Vivian Gobera, whom police described as Mulindwa’s girlfriend. During questioning, she reportedly told investigators that women recruited into the operation were assigned alternative names to conceal their identities from relatives and acquaintances.
Gobera further stated that the online broadcasts were primarily intended for viewers in Western countries and were inaccessible in Uganda and other East African nations.
Police said several of the arrested women disclosed that they were paid in US dollars and earned significant income through the activities.
Investigators also claim the operation extended beyond online streaming. Some of the women were allegedly hired to entertain wealthy clients at private events in Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono, while others were reportedly sent to luxury hotels to provide companionship to guests.
Police say investigations are continuing as they work to establish the full scope of the operation and apprehend the remaining suspects.
