BREAKING: Two Women Killed, Several Injured as Car Rams Pedestrians in Mityana

    By OnionJune 1, 2026

Two women were killed instantly and several other people injured after a vehicle reportedly lost control and ploughed into pedestrians in Mityana Municipality on Sunday.

The fatal crash occurred near Centenary Bank in Mityana Town when a Toyota Mark X, registration number UBN 773L, veered off its path and struck a group of people walking along the roadside. Witnesses said the vehicle hit the pedestrians with significant force, leaving two women dead at the scene.

More than four people sustained serious injuries in the accident and were rushed to Mityana General Hospital for treatment. Residents and emergency responders worked together to rescue victims and transport the injured to hospital.

The incident caused panic in the busy town centre, with large crowds gathering at the scene shortly after the crash. Traffic and pedestrian movement were temporarily disrupted as rescue efforts got underway.

Eyewitnesses described the impact as devastating, saying several victims suffered multiple injuries. Community members were among the first to respond, offering assistance before ambulances arrived.

By press time, authorities had not released the identities of the deceased or provided an official explanation for the crash. The condition of those receiving treatment had also not been confirmed.

The tragedy has renewed concerns about road safety in urban areas, with local residents urging motorists to exercise greater caution and calling on authorities to strengthen enforcement of traffic regulations.

Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident, and more information is expected as inquiries continue.
