A 48-year-old man has been left devastated after discovering that his wife of 11 years allegedly remarried another man in the United States, bringing a long-distance marriage to a painful and unexpected end.
Robert Bameidel shared his emotional ordeal, revealing how he met his wife through Instagram in 2015 after she sent him a direct message that quickly turned into a deep connection.
According to him, their conversations grew rapidly, and she travelled to Nigeria just two weeks after they first started talking.
Robert said their relationship moved fast, and despite her past marriage, he chose to overlook it, believing in building a future together. The couple got engaged in August 2015 and officially married on November 29, 2015.
However, their marriage soon became long-distance, with Robert based in Nigeria while his wife lived in Lagos before later relocating to the United States in 2019 for work opportunities.
He said he supported her decision fully, believing it would strengthen their life together.
But according to Robert, things began to change after she moved abroad. Communication reduced significantly, and she eventually stopped responding to his messages regularly.
He also alleged that she began distancing herself emotionally, asking him to remove their photos from social media and limiting interactions.
Robert further claimed that his wife later told him she had a male roommate in the US, a situation he reluctantly accepted despite growing concerns.
The situation reached a breaking point after 11 years when Robert says he discovered wedding photos and videos of his wife marrying another man on Instagram.
He described the moment as deeply painful and humiliating, saying he felt betrayed after trusting her completely.
“I am hurt, I am pained, and I don’t think I can love foolishly again,” he said emotionally.
Robert has since shared his story publicly, saying he wants to encourage others in long-distance relationships to be cautious and to speak up when facing emotional betrayal.
