Savage Murder: Ugandan Businessman Found Chopped and Burnt Inside a Lodge

    By OnionApril 20, 2026

Police in Greater Bushenyi are investigating a suspected murder. A prominent businessman was found burnt and dismembered at a lodge in Ishaka Division, Bushenyi District.

The deceased has been identified as Abias Asiimwe. He was 57 years old. He was a businessman and resident of Kashenyi Ward.

According to a police statement from Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Tayebwa Apollo, Asiimwe was last seen on April 18, 2026 at Kashenyi Trading Centre. He then went to a nearby lodge. He did not return home. This caused concern among family members.

His relatives reported the disappearance to police at Kashenyi the next day. Police responded immediately. A joint search operation with local residents located the body.

Authorities recovered a burnt and dismembered body from the lodge premises. The body is believed to be that of Asiimwe.

Police arrested seven suspects. This includes a prime suspect. The suspects will assist with the ongoing investigations.

“The scene of crime was thoroughly examined and relevant exhibits were recovered to aid investigations,” SP Tayebwa said in the statement.

The body was taken to Kitagata Hospital mortuary. A postmortem examination will be conducted there to establish the exact cause of death.

Police condemned the act. They described it as heinous. They assured the public that all responsible individuals will be brought to justice.

“We extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the deceased’s soul to rest in eternal peace,” the statement added.

Investigations into the motive and circumstances of the killing remain ongoing. Police will provide updates as more details emerge.
