Police in Natete are holding a 32-year-old woman after she allegedly stabbed her former boyfriend to death in the early hours of Wednesday during a domestic dispute in Wakaliga Zone B, Rubaga Division, Kampala.
The deceased, Ssebugwawo Mike, 43, a mechanic and resident of Wakaliga Zone in Rubaga Division, died from a stab wound to the chest. The suspect, Nantongo Hadijjah, is being detained at Natete Police Station as investigations continue.
According to police, the incident happened at around 2:00am on March 12, 2026, inside Nantongo’s single rented room. Preliminary investigations show the two had previously been in a relationship but separated about two months ago.
Police say Ssebugwawo had been calling Nantongo repeatedly during the night without getting a response. He went to her residence at around 1:00am and found the door locked with another man inside. He allegedly forced his way into the room, which triggered a physical confrontation.
During the fight, Nantongo allegedly picked up a sharp broken clay plate and stabbed him in the chest. The injuries proved fatal.
Police have condemned violence in domestic settings and called on members of the public to report cases of domestic abuse to the authorities before situations turn deadly.
