The Ruparelia Foundation is bringing a three-day free eye care camp to Bukedea Teaching Hospital from March 27 to 29, offering essential eye treatment to communities across eastern and northern Uganda.
The camp is being held in honour of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, as a tribute to the spirit of service and compassion he stood for. Specialists from Mulago National Referral Hospital and healthcare provider C-Care will join the effort, putting together a team of experienced ophthalmologists and medical staff on the ground.
Residents can expect free comprehensive eye check-ups, cataract screenings, reading glasses, and children’s prescription glasses. Cataract surgeries will also be carried out for patients identified as suitable candidates during screenings.
People from Bukedea, Soroti, Mbale, Gulu, Lira, Tororo, and Kapchorwa are all encouraged to come through. The camp is open to both adults and children, with a particular focus on reaching communities where preventable blindness and untreated eye conditions are still far too common.
For the Ruparelia family, the initiative is a continuation of the values Rajiv lived by. Anyone in need of eye care is urged to take advantage of the free services during the three-day camp.
