A Uganda Christian University student who was reported missing has been found safe in Mukono Town.
Nathan Tuwandike, 25, a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences student at UCU, was last seen on February 25, 2026, in Mukono Town. He had left his mobile phone and personal belongings behind at his hostel in Nsibambi A11, Mukono District.
Mukono Police launched an investigation and appealed to the public for information, urging anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to contact Mukono Police Station on 0783 748109.
On March 2, 2026, members of the public reported to police that a man matching Tuwandike’s description had been spotted wandering around Mukono Town. Officers responded and recovered him at around 2:00pm.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the recovery. “He is currently in safe custody as further assessments are being conducted,” Owoyesigyire said.
Uganda Christian University issued a statement confirming that Tuwandike had been found and reunited with his family. “We are pleased to inform the university community and all UCU stakeholders that Nathan Tuwandike, a student pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences, has been found safe and sound. He has been successfully reunited with his family,” the university said.
UCU thanked the Uganda Police Force for its intervention during the search and urged students to continue supporting one another.
Neither police nor the university provided details on the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
The incident comes barely two weeks after the murder of Pamela Tumwebaze, a UCU administrator who was killed in Mukono.
