Mitooma District is mourning the death of Bamuheire Tedora, sister of retired Major General Kahinda Otafiire. She passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Gen. Otafiire announced the news on Wednesday through his X account, writing, “It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my sister, Bamuheire Tedora, which occurred on Tuesday, 30th December 2025.”
A vigil is being held on Wednesday, December 31, at the family’s ancestral home in Kashenshero, Ruhinda, Mitooma District.
The Requiem Mass is scheduled to take place at Bubangizi Senior Secondary School playground, with burial to follow at Kashenshero.
The family has confirmed that the funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
The family has requested prayers and support during this difficult time.
Gen. Otafiire is a well-known Ugandan politician and former military officer. He has served as a Member of Parliament and held several ministerial roles, including Minister of Internal Affairs and Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. He is also a veteran of the bush war that brought President Yoweri Museveni to power in 1986.
