Popular Ugandan media figure Edwin Katamba, better known as MC Kats, has exited NBS Television and is set to focus entirely on online content creation starting in 2026.
After seven years at the Naguru-based station, MC Kats will no longer appear on NBS After 5. Instead, he is redirecting his energy toward developing his own digital media project, centered on YouTube.
People familiar with the matter say his decision was made months ago, with his resignation submitted in November 2025. The move closes a major chapter in a broadcasting journey that began more than two decades ago.
MC Kats first rose to national fame at WBS Television before moving on to NTV Uganda, where he hosted the entertainment program NTV Xposed. His arrival at NBS in 2018 further cemented his status in television, particularly through his role on After 5, where he worked alongside presenters such as Douglas Lwanga, Viana Indi, DJ Roja, and Mercy Pro.
His upcoming YouTube channel is expected to cover music-related content, entertainment updates, industry analysis, and candid discussions about the inner workings of Uganda’s music business.
The shift reflects a wider trend of established broadcasters choosing digital platforms to reach audiences directly and independently.
After years of shaping entertainment television, MC Kats is now betting his future on the digital space.
